Bendigo Thompson

Bendigo Thompson - a bare-knuckle prize fighter turned preacher whose life story is one of the greatest testaments to human strength in boxing history.

Bendigo's ferocious 100-round fights commanded huge crows of lords and paupers from across the land - he was a sporting celebrity of the Victorian age.

He even invented boxing's Southpaw stance which is used to this day by fighters around the world.

But very little is known about the boxer outside of the pubs and gyms of his home city of Nottingham, England.

This website is a tribute to the man whose legacy still lives on among the streets where he used to fight.

Here you will find pictures, videos, information on books about Bendigo, tales about Bendigo's fights and more.
